Early Completion

Welcome to Riverside Unified School District's Induction Program.  Several years ago, the California Legislature found and declared that the beginning years of a teacher's career are a critical time in which it is necessary that intensive professional support, assessment, and development occur in order to build on the preparation that precedes initial certification.  In 1988, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing sponsored, and the Governor signed, legislation that restructured teacher credentialing within California.  One of the highlights of this reform is a new requirement that teachers complete a two-year induction program of support and formative assessment during their first two years of teaching as a prerequisite for being recommended for a California Professional Clear Teaching Credential.  The main goal of this new credentialing continuum is to transform the academic preparation which occurs during pre-service into practical success, for both new teachers and their students, in the classroom.

As part of the fourteenth largest district in California, RUSD's Induction Program offers opportunities for preliminary SB2042 credential holders and out of state candidates to expand and deepen their teaching knowledge and skill.  It provides a smooth transition into the complex responsibilities of education and helps ensure professional success by supporting participating teachers in addressing the needs of their culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse classrooms.

The continued path to your California Professional Clear Credential Starts here!
